Terminology

There is some simple terminology we use to refer to drawings involved in regging:

Drawings that need to appear both behind and in front of other artwork are known as reg drawings

Drawings and/or overlays with which a reg drawing interacts are known as reg-to drawings - because the reg drawing registers to them.

Each reg drawing has one or more associated reg-to drawings or overlays.

Reg-to drawings and overlays are unaffected by regging; they simply provide lines which are copied into the reg drawing. These extra lines enable you to ink and paint the reg drawing so it correctly appears both behind and in front of the reg-to drawings and overlays.
